Trade Dispute

Postby matty_icend » Thu Aug 07, 2014 4:38 pm

Keeper League:
Thoughts on this trade. winner/loser and if it was fair or lopsided.
The trade the went through was

Mark Trumbo, James Shields, and Nick Castellanos

for

Jose Abreu

The owner of Trumbo, Shields and Castellanos is in first place and is set for next year with high quality keepers.
Owner of Jose Abreu is in last and has holes everywhere in his lineup.

Thanks.

Winner is Abreu side, if your asking is it veto worthy? I would say probably not, depending on the league size

14 teams. Does that make a difference for you?

Was there collusion? No? No veto.

Is it a keeper league where one side gets the better keepers, the other one gets help for this year? Yes? No veto.

Help with mine:

Can't say I would make this move if I had Abreu, but I also can't say to veto this deal. Trumbo's 162-game averages are 30 HR / 100 RBI. If he's healthy next year and performs like he did the past few years, this deal isn't too far off.

There was definitely no collusion. The problem we are having now is that the manager has made poor trades in the past and the other managers in the league want the trade reversed. I agree that the trade is not that bad at all but having Abreu in a keeper league is an advantage. That being said the other team received a top notch fantasy pitcher with high K's and also a comparable power and RBI numbers with a lower BA.

I have my own analysis of the trade and will post it soon, but I dont want to sway anyones opinions before hand.

I need some third party analysis to bring to the managers at our season end and/or Winter Meetings to make the best decision for the league.

Help is always appreciated and thanks to those who have already put in the 2 or 3 cents.

We have a policy in our league if no collusion then trades go through. I probably would not have made the trade, but everyone views their team in different ways. Who am I to tell a manager how to run their team. If a trade is bad, then it is just like other decisions we make we learn from them and go on to next year. Just my thoughts.

As others have said if there is no collusion then let the trade go through. My feeling is if you don't like a lot of the trades that go through then find better players to play with.
