Major Keeper Trade WHIR

Postby dcmove2003 » Sat Aug 02, 2014 2:25 pm

12-team roto league. Keep your 3 best players every year (first 3 rounds). Can only keep a player for 2 seasons + draft/trade season. My current keepers are Stanton, Ellsbury, Hanley Ramirez. Stanton is in his final year, so I must trade him. Currently in 7th, 13 points out of 3rd (to get in money). I have a chance to make up ground, but it's unlikely as my pitching is terrible.

Trying to ensure I get a solid keeper for Stanton. Also have George Springer, who might be a keeper over either Hanley or Ellsbury (not sure yet).

Which keeper would you prefer to get?

Trade 1: Stanton + Adrian Gonzalez for McCutchen and Sandoval (LOVE McCutchen. Getting ride of Gonzo pretty much ends my chances this year)

Trade 2: Stanton + Springer for Encarnacion + Cano (love getting two keepers for 1, but both Cano and Encarnacion are much older and their best years might be behind them. Also hate to give up Springer in case I decide to keep him, but this is tempting. Could also try countering with Nelson Cruz instead of Stanton).

Trade 3: Stanton for Adam Jones (not sure this is even. I see Stanton as a top 5 keeper, while Jones is more a of top 10 or 15 keeper.

Trade 4: Stanton for Goldschmidt (who is out for season).

What would you do? WHIR. Leave a link.

If you are done for this year (and it sounds like you are), go for the best keeper for the next 3 years. If you can't get Trout, get McCutchen. #1 is the deal to make; and add more in if you have to.

I agree, if you are out of it for this season then I would take the best keeper for next season and get McCutchen leaving you with McCutchen, Hanley, Ellsbury, Springer has solid keeper options.

If you can keep Cutch I'd do that #1 deal for sure.

Who else could you consider keeping.

I like Hanley for SS
I like Cutch for OF.
Ells is an ok keeper for OF (but his production could go all over the place boom/bust)

I'd try to package Ellsbury or Cruz and one of your other good players you can't keep for one good keeper at a position you don't have anything for.

I agree try and get Cutch! If you are out you need to get Andrew.

The McCutchen deal is best for you.

While I think the Cutch deal is good and honestly think he will be the #2 player next year, i think the last trade may be the best. While going up 13 points may not seem like too much, a lot can happen to not only your team but also the people in between. I would just build for next year. Goldschmidt is out for this year and that gives you the perfect opportunity to buy low on him (I think Goldy is the #4 player next year).

Thanks for the help on my question!

Thanks for the help on mine. I would do trade 1: the only comparable one in value. I like Cano and Encarnacion but Cutch is younger.

Maybe it's me, but why can't you move Stanton straight up for McCutchen?

It's not that far off, and if the other guy gets 2 more years of Stanton (as he's hitting his prime) and if the other guy needs a McCutchen replacement, a 1-for-1 makes a lot of sense...

Then, maybe try to package Gonzalez and Ellsbury for Goldschmidt. Again, using the injury to your advantage.

Now, if the owners of those injured guys aren't worried about their injuries, then all of this is moot. ;-D

Agree with this 100%...Cutch is the best value outside of Trout and Goldy, Stanton not falling too far behind...
