Looking past the AS Game

Postby mueller11fan » Fri Jul 11, 2014 11:20 am

Heading into the All Star game, I'm gaining confidence in my team compared to where I was a few weeks ago. I was wondering how a second pair of eyes saw my team, and what realistic chance I had for the ROS. My thoughts are that I have a shot at making playoffs (top 6 go, I'm sitting at 7 of 12 atm) however, I don't think I have enough for a strong push in the playoffs, which I would love to change. Currently, I wouldn't mind trading a combo of Simon, Alvarez, Hughes, plus a bat to get a solid #2 SP. Guy who has Lester, also has an OF of: JUpton, C. Gomez, and A. Jackson... Guy with Richards/Grienke has OF of Harper, Braun, Rasmus, but is playing Fowler/A.Soriano in the Util option... Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Wow unless my math is wacky it looks like your league hates SP's 'cause by what I can figure at this point your catcher Jaso has scored 3 times as many points as Kershaw (the best pitcher in baseball) if that's the case screw looking for another arm and trade for offense - hell trade Kershaw.

Shoot, I missed a category for pitching.

IP is worth 3pts. That makes up the difference. Jaso has 140pts this year, Kershaw: 354

Thanks for the catch.

Format is:

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Votto is my only "DL" player right now since Liriano is back tomorrow, and Cole should be back w/in a week (I hope)

Daily Roster Changes
No limits for pitching
4 max acquisitions/week (have 2 so far this week)

I can't see you moving any offense and I'd probably roll without a bat (moustakas can't be any help) and 4 SP's on the bench and cross my fingers. I just don't see that you have the offensive depth to get Lester for a couple of arms and a bat.

He's not. I just added him TBH. I'm most likely going to add a 2B/SS (Mercer is at the top of that list) off of ww since I have 1B/3B/CI doing pretty well. Just hesitant to be toying with Pittsburghs INF right now.

Any thought then on which pitchers I could afford? Someone that will be helpful for the rest of the season?

Is Jimmy Nelson still available , if not and you're looking to trade I think Simon is a sell high guy I wouldn't drop him but I'd shop him around.

If your looking for something that will really change your lineup I would go for Harper (big up side). He has been bad since coming off DL so it is a risk, but I think its a good time to buy low. If you trade Springer for Harper I think you could get Richards too for Simon. Could end up being an upgrade at both.
