The scenario their in and their performance in that scenario is what determines whether they win, lose or save a game.

If there is multiple pitchers per team and that team wins

The WP is the pitcher who is pitching in the inning in which the run that puts his team ahead for good is scored.

The LP is the same thing, but for the losing team.

A Sv. is harder to define, because there are about 70 different ways you can earn one.
