I have a surplus of outfielders (Ichiro, Dye, Crawford, Byrd) and I'm thinking of dropping Michael Tucker, who I think is the weakest of the outfielders for some third base backup help.
I'm thinking of going for the young hot sleeper and want opinions on Casey Blake (Cleveland) and (gulp) Keith Ginter (Milwaukee). Sean Burroughs (San Diego) is also available.
Any opinions on these sleeper third basemen?
BTW I think Dye is going to have a great year, and I picked him up in late rounds for my teams. A steal in my book.
theres not that many 3B sleepers this year... maybe...
Brandon Larson- i know he stank it up last year but he has what it takes to be a major league 3B- think Blalock (he too messed it up his rookie year when all eyes were on him and then we all know about last year ).
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
Both are available. Larson on DL with turf toe. (I hate it when that happens)
With D Young out of the Detroit lineup, I don't know about Munson and how long that will continue. Larson looks good but will have to wait to see what he's like when he returns.
Any opinion on the third basemen I mentioned? Are they that bad that you can't even comment?
I got Crede and Ensberg there now, so I'm just thinking of blake cause he may be hot for a few weeks til Crede gets going.
dont worry too much about Crede or Emsberg- they'll produce eventually but if you do have to pick someone you have to go with Burroughs- best hitter out of all those guys hitting in the best linup.

Thanks
Ginter isn't starting, so don't take him. Burroughs will get you more runs and higher average. Blake will likely have more HRs and RBIs. Neither steals much. Both are decent enough options. I would not characterize either as a "young, hot, sleeper." Blake is 30 years old. Burroughs is young and certainly has a higher ceiling than Blake, but it is questionable whether he'll ever develop much power.
Munson is the starting 3b for Detroit, not Young. Young was playing OF and DH. Munson's like Blake. Low BA, but some power. He's older than Burroughs, younger than Blake.
But, I don't see why you need any of these guys since you already have Crede and Ensberg. Be patient.
I really don't trust Alfonzo to bat his weight. He did have a good second half last year, and he's being talked up, but I got burned with him last year, and I'm not ready to forgive him yet.
Keep an eye on Ryan Freel. He's only eligible at OF in most leagues, but he has logged at least 2 games at 3B and should be well on his way to 3B eligibility. He has the potential to be a big time base stealer, something you almost never see out of the 3B position.
