12-Team Yahoo! Public Roto

Postby chrisdubyuh » Wed Mar 19, 2014 4:32 am

I haven't played fantasy sports in 5+ years and decided to jump into a public league with very little preparation. I did one mock draft before this draft. Fortunately, I was the only member of the league making live picks. I got a little crazy with the MI I think. I also neglected to draft any closers.

Am I mostly good to go? Would you change anything? Thank you in advance. Leave a link and I will do my best to provide any insight.

Salty can go, look for bal rp hunter or another set up guy to a potential melt down closer.
And you could try fishing kinsler since you have flex options for 2nd.

He was eligible there last year but I think it resets back to normal. Hopefully he plays 15 games there this season so I can try to make a move.

As the person beneath me said drop Jarod. We both have kinsler and rios so I can agree with you there, I love Jean segura he won't hit a ton of home runs but he will hit a good average .280-.300 and could have 45 stolen bases.

You need some relief pitching.

Your team looks good- very well balanced. Like the others, I don't know if Salty is doing much for you. May be worth seeing who is FA and if you can add some utility by dropping him.

In my opinion, RP is one of the better positions to be having problems early on. There are always going to be closer positions that are volatile. Identify a few that you think are worth watching and keep an eye on the current closer and the next couple guys in line. I made a bunch of moves in my bullpen last year. Ultimately, a few guys that I would never have considered taking early helped take me to the championship (ex. Rex Brothers, Koji Uehara, Joaquin Benoit). Just be patient with your setup guys until then. Won't get you saves, but will help ERA, WHIP, Ks.
>>A note on this, Aroldis Chapman got a pretty gnarly injury last night. If I remember correctly, JJ Happ missed pretty significant time with a similarly unfortunate incident last year (60 day DL?). Look into JJ Hoover from Cincy, or try to keep an ear to the ground and strike quick before the guy who has Chapman poaches him (or any other volatile closer you're eyeing).

I have waivers out on JJ Hoover and Yordano Ventura -- dropping Salty and Brian Wilson. Should I drop Torii Hunter for another potential closer?

No, he had 650 plate appearances w/ .300 avg he's old but durable. It's to early to be chasing cat's hawk the waiver wire and keep eyes open for guys that step up.

Besides Jarrod, there's no one really droppable on the hitting end. Your gonna need more pitching. You may have to look for a trade but sounds like your league won't be very active?

Picked up both Hoover and Ventura. I floated a few offers around. Another owner offered up Sergio Romo for Trumbo. I'm slightly inclined to pulling the trigger and dropping Benoit or Brothers for Carlos Quentin or James Loney.
