The opportunity to get Harper is huge in a keeper. Scherzer is great but long term he won't be miles ahead of Shelby Miller. For sure this year and maybe next but that's about it.

Harper is far better than Upton who just doesn't have the "it" factor required to keep everything together.

I agree with the rest. I don't trust the Upton clan and Harper could be a beast. Take the deal.

Yup, I'd take that trade too. I don't like Upton at all, and between Miller/Wheeler and Scherzer/Parnell, you always want to give up the side with the closer if you get two SP in return.

Do it. And while you're browsing along, a word about my trade conundrum would be appreciated: viewtopic.php?t=468142.

Its an ok trade in my book. Losing Scherzer hurts you a bit.
But getting Harper is nice.

I am with the majority. Scherzer is one pitch away from bad things happening to his elbow (assuming that it happens). However, losing him in the short term is really your only concern; Miller will be a solid number two for the Cards for a long, long time. Plus, he has big time potential. It really boils down to losing Scherzer this year and next, which you can afford, and getting Harper, which is a win.

Pull the trigger.

Take the trade but not only because of the Harper factor but because your getting 3 top players for 2. As much as I like Parnell he doesn't count for much

Harper/S. Miller/Wheeler
I give Ju. Upton/Scherzer/Parnell
