Trading Kimbrel...help

Postby outsideoftime » Sun Mar 16, 2014 11:58 pm

Yahoo Keeper League year 6.
11cat (avg, r, hr, RBI, sb, bb, era, w, k, whip, sv+hld)
Head to head
8 teams
Keep up to 15 players, but taxed if you keep a player more than three years

Ok so I've had Kimbrel for three beautiful seasons. If I keep him through the whole year I will be taxed or I return him to the draft for nothing. (For example I paid taxes on CarGo, Wainwright, and Hanley this off-season)

Would you go ahead and keep him or would you trade him for offensive help?

I have two offers for him right now. One is straight up for Ellsbury. One is for Holliday and Grilli but I add Profar. I could use OF help.

Here is my team...
C Mauer, Gattis
1B Abreu, Adams (can fill IF/util slot)
2B Carpenter, Profar
3B Sandoval, Lawrie
SS HRamirez, Segura (can fill IF/util slot)
OF Gonzalez
OF AJones
OF Rios
OF Craig
OF Revere, Calhoun
NA Taveras

Sp Scherzer
Sp JFernandez
Sp Wainwright
Sp Strasburg
SP Sale
RP Kimbrel
RP Rosenthal
RP Romo
P. Freiri
P. Kuroda
P. Kennedy
P. Tillman
P. Wacha
P. Parker
NA. ArchBradley

We have a a budget line to cover FAAB, keepers, and winter meeting auctions. It's fake money but you can't afford to keep everyone.

Well, to be honest that doesn't give me a ton of information at all. However, based on what your teams needs are? Saves are going to be a weak spot for you and I like Ellsbury a ton with that short right field fence. I'd do the straight up offer.

I'd take the Ellsbury deal. Try dealing Jarrod for a RP like Henderson to keep you at 3.
