Drafting strategy

Postby edkranepool7 » Sun Mar 16, 2014 6:31 pm

In a weekly league where you can start 5 pitchers regardless of starter or relief status. 8 categories for pitching. (W, L, S, ERA, WHIP, BAA, Inn, K) Was thinking of only drafting relief pitchers during draft. My thinking was to draft 5 relief pitchers to try to win S, ERA, WHIP, BAA, and L each week. This strategy would also help me get more bats. Thoughts?

It might work some weeks, but while you don't guarantee you'll win any of those categories, you're almost guaranteeing that you'll lose the other 3. And it might only take one reliever with a terrible outing to lose a couple more. Seems a little risky to me.

It wouldn't be my strategy. What is your innings minimum each week? You might want to consider that with this type of strategy. I'm not one for throwing categories and this seems very risky at best. But I would be interested to see how it turns out. Just not with my team. :-D

No innings minimum. Did it two years ago in playoffs against a team that had strong pitching. Won those categories that week.

You might cause a minimum then lol. Hopefully for you they don't change rules mid season. I see this as being one of those things you could do but don't do. Unless you really want to cause a giant shit storm in your league. I would factor in what type of commish you have. You could even be kicked out for it.
