Do this trade for Taveras?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Sat Mar 15, 2014 2:04 pm

13 team, NL only league, 9 keepers per year, 23 man rosters with MI/CI and 2 catchers, auction league with 260 dollar cap.

Just been offered Oscar Taveras (10), Justin Ruggiano (3), and Yonder Alonso (6) for my Homer Bailey (12) and Dominic Brown (17). What do you guys think?

My keepers without the trade are:

Scutaro (8)
Headley (12)
Carpenter (21)
Heyward (32)
Soler (1)
Brown (17)
Garcia (11)
Bailey (12)
Hoover (1)

I like Tavares, but too much to give up.
Homer has a great price, and Brown not bad.

Brown and Bailey are too established at a major league level to give up for all prospects, even in an NL only league.

I know that Homer's price is great but i don't really trust Brown. Plus if I did the deal I could save 18 dollars for the draft where I can concentrate on pitching and grab a stud OF like Pence or Upton. Alonso is serviceable at first base, Ruggiano is a sleeper and Taveras is a future stud. Am i not thinking correctly here?

Future is the key word though. When will these guys be getting called up? There's no shot you see Taveras this year on the Cardinals until after he's worth it on a fantasy team. I think Homer Bailey is going to be the next breakout star to be honest with you. He could be the next Scherzer and he's playing right now. Dom Brown also at one point was in the same spot Taveras was in.

You are only getting Tavares back and not a decent second piece I would pass.

Anyone else have other opinions? I asked for Khris Davis to be included somehow but he said he wouldn't do it.

Based on the fact that we really don't know how Taveras will perform on the labor league level (and his injury risk), I would not give up those two pieces for him.

I understand about Taveras but I was just wondering what you thought of Ruggiano and Alonso? They are cheap keepers and could out produce their contracts. I'm just tempted because it would save me 18 dollars to put towards pitching staff and a stud outfielder and closer. Anymore thoughts?
