Roto #5 Pick WHIR?

Postby Philly_05 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 11:53 am

We have posted our keepers and gotten our draft order. I picked up the 5th spot in the draft. I have been leaning toward going 1B or 3B with my first pick. Other options are SS and SP. This is my roster and the best players available. 1st and 2nd round picks get put back into the draft each year. Keepers go up 2 rounds from the prior years draft position each year.

Best Available - Miggy, Votto, Prince, Cano, Wright, Longoria, Tulowitzki, McCutchen, Kershaw, Darvish, Strasburg, Felix

I would love to have Miggy but that's not going to happen. I'm avoiding Cano this year. I figure McCutchen will go in the first 4 picks as well. That leaves me with Votto who I had last year, Prince, Wright, Longoria and Tulo as options for the 5th pick. Kershaw could be a option as well but not really a need pick. A lot of the top SP options are in the draft. So I can get a good guy in the 4th or 5th round to bolster my staff.

HR, R, RBI, SB, K, AVG / W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

C- Carlos Santana
1B-
2B- Jason Kipnis
3B-
SS- Hanley Ramirez
CI- Anthony Rizzo
MI-
IF-
LF- Domonic Brown
CF- Mike Trout
RF- Yasiel Puig
OF- Christian Yelich
UT-

SP- Adam Wainwright
SP- Matt Latos
SP- Matt Moore
SP- Jose Fernandez
SP- Danny Salazar
RP- Kenley Jansen
RP- Trevor Rosenthal
RP- Addison Reed

I'd stay away from Tulo.

Wright and Longoria for me... I hate reaching but 3B is really shy this year so I would fill that then maybe an Abreu, Trumbo or Rizzo later on

Votto- power is down since the injury but average is great
Prince-power is down
Wright- would be solid but he was out a good amount last year with an injury
Longoria- solid power hitter, the addition of Myers will boost his numbers
Tulo- not worth injury risk

1B is deep so I'd go with longoria or wright

assuming Miggy, (1 of Votto or Cano), Prince, McCutchen will be selected 1 - 4

then I would select in order:
Votto/Cano, Wright, Darvish, Longoria, Kershaw, Felix, Tulowitzki, Strasburg,
