Postby kidsilk » Fri Mar 14, 2014 3:36 pm

10 team, 18 player rosters, 3 to 10 keepers per year, 8x8 H2H, snake draft. I have the 20th and 23rd overall picks because I came in second last season and kept 10 players. My biggest needs are LF and 2B. Which ones of the following do you think will drop to my pick and who should I target?

LF:

Cespedes
Gordon
Granderson
Soriano
Prado
Martin
Crawford
Moss
Brantley
Eaton
Yelich
Gattis

2B:

Altuve
Lawrie
Hill
Prado
Gyorko
Utley
Murphy
Kendrick
Profar
Lowrie
Miller

My Keepers

C-Rosari
1B-Pujols
2B-
3B-Longoria
SS-Segura
LF-
CF-Cutch
RF-Bautista
UT-Freeman
UT-

SP-Kershaw
SP-MadBum
SP-Minor
RP-
RP-

Cespedes and Altuve would be my first 2 options

If you miss out on Cespedes or Gordon I would wait and target Martin, Moss, or Eaton (possibly Brantley). Moss if you need power (he is an excellent platoon option for your team), and Eaton or Martin if you prefer speed.

If you miss out on Altuve, I would target Lawrie or Gyorko... MAYBE Profar.

I would add in that Prado is a perfectly fine 2b option so I would not be all too concerned with 2b.

I would target Cespedes with your first pick. Then see what happens to your 2nd. If you do not get Cespedes on the first pick, the other LF options do not make me want to pick them over the likes of Holland or the first 3-5 SPs you listed. Same at 2b as Altuve, Prado, Gyorko and even Hill are OK options (not a fan of Lawrie). In this case though outside of maybe Altuve, I am not keen on any of them over Holland or Anibal Sanchez or maybe even Latos. I know everyone is sort of up on Gyorko which is fine, but Holland is a real weapon on your staff and the other SPs will add some value while the 2b is basically just filling an open slot where the replacement value is not that much less to the next player. My 2 cents.

I would not worry about 2B. There is no great option, they are all about the same.
I don't get all the Altuve love?
I would go BPA

G Holland
Gordon
Rizzo
Cole
Cespedes

I really like Alex Cobb, I think he'll have a phenomenal season this year. Just my two cents if you decide on a pitcher. For LF I like Gordon, he's like kind of a poor mans Carlos Gomez... But they're not that far apart.

You need SB from those two positions, and the best guys available are power guys. Pick best available for either your pitching or Utility, then wait on Martin or another LF, and Profar or another speedy 2B.

if you miss on gordon/ces then yes pick one of about a half dozen of the sp/rp names according to your ratings, or a jackson/hamilton type.

it depends, on what is left. i always draft best available first then need, but there are some real good sp names on that list. ;-D
