good job Adam
cafe people do you think he'll keep up the good work this year? What's your spin?
Well, with help from our Pad expert--WR--I picked him up and am very pleased. I was just going to check the box score to see who the Dodgers pitched. If Eaton pitches like this, or close to it, he'll get plenty of wins with that team.
yeh I had him in yesterday, already assuming that he's a sleeper this year. But what I was most impressed by was that through 7 innings he had only thrown 86 pitches, so he got to work the eighth on his first start of the year. The Padres are death to the LA offense as are most teams, but especialy them. I recommend Eaton from this point forward to eeryone if he is available which is unlikely.
2 more guys in the same mold as him this year: 1) Jeremy Affeldt who starts today against I believe the tribe, he will get more k/9 than Eaton. 2)John Thomson- because one brave starter has to pitch well right? also because he was the ace of the texas staff. That's right I said ace and Texas in the same sentence. He'll have less k/9 than Eaton but likely better ratios. Watch out for these three. I forgot Thomson also goes today I believe against the all slugged-out mets.
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Yeah, I picked him up off of waivers in all my leagues (where available) and started him yesterday. It wouldn't have mattered if he was going up against the Yankees or the Red Sox I would have started him nonetheless. I watched him last year and followed his stats through ST of this year so I'm looking forward to a very good year out of Eaton as my #4-#5 starter.
Any guy with potential can have a good season in that division. If you take away playing in Coors you have Colorado on the road wich is quite ugly, San Francisco(walk Bonds and youll be fine), Arizona(average really) and LA(no explanation needed). San Diego could be a good hitting team this year but theyre no juggernaut here. Anyway Peavy and Eaton seem pretty solid to me. Wells unitl he gets injured does too. Brand Webb, Schmidt if he´s healthy, Tomko, Ishii... maybe even Weaver and Perez. Im playing this division card in the AL central too.

One little known thing about Adam's spring is that he threw an unusual number of sliders. He spent most of the sping working on it in particaluar and the batters even knew it was coming in most situatuons. Some batters saw nothing but sliders. That accounts for his shaky spring. He may be the best of the three IMO. As a matter of fact, the only Padre pitcher I own this year, on any team, is Adam Eaton.
I picked him up as a replacement when Prior went on the DL.
I've always kind of liked him. If he continues to pitch well this year I'll have to drop someone else from my roster when Prior is ready to come back.
