A commissioner's job is to make the league come alive

Fantasy baseball is inherently a game of statistics, but a good commissioner is as much a historian as he is a manager of the league.

Very nice.

Nice thoughts and really demonstrates the other side of live fantasy baseball drafting. My league has transformed from fantasy baseball to a Men's Club of sorts, not to sound too 1950's. Golfing, drinking, business connections. So go out and join a local league! Strangers become friends real quick. And side benefit to Commishes, your players tend to stick around. Our league is going into the 16th year.

Nice job. I think an active commish can really make a difference in a league. I'm not commish in my league, but sometimes I take it upon myself to add something to our league. I built our league trophy and start every year with posting factoids that I've found about the league (example: before last year, every team that drafted Andrew Bailey wound up in last place).

We don't play for money, so sometimes it takes a little effort to maintain everyone's interest throughout the year.

I love the Andrew Bailey stat! Any thing a commissioner does above-and-beyond adds value to a league. I'm a writer by profession, so that's what I do to help my league.
