Trade offered

Postby Surfs up » Sat Feb 22, 2014 3:31 pm

I play in a 12 team AL only 260.00 8 keeper league. I have been offered two trades that mean I have to drop one player I was planning on keeping . Thses are my keepers before either trade.
Max Scherzer 25.00
Cobb 8.00
Sonny Gray 8.00
Kluber 2.00
Uehera 1.00
Donaldson 6.00
Encarncion 21.00
Trout 30.00 ( he's 5.00 now but extending him 5 more years at 5.00 per year)

Trade A
I give Igelasis 3.00 I don't plan on keeping plus my # 5 pick
I get Casey Janssen 1.00

Trade B
I give Austin Jackson 25.00 not planning on keeping and Iglasis 3.00
I get E. Fieri 14.00

The picks can be used to get any players that were not drafted . They automatically become 5.00 players. They go on the bench. Or to pick up minor leaguers. If the minor leaguer comes up for more than two weeks during the season ( September call ups are a free period ) they automatically become 5.00 .
I have Miquel Sano and Addison Russell as minor leaguers.
Either trade I have to drop somebody
If I do this trade it means I have to drop a pitcher. My first thought was Max at 25.00 . But looking at whats being kept and prices Max is a good buy. Darvish will be kept at 28.00 and Sale will be kept at 27.00. King Felix and Verlander will be avalible but both went for 35.00 last year.
Pitching will be in demand this draft . If I stay pat and not trade I would go back to the draft needing 15 players 159.00 to spend. There will be more offensive players to bid on than pitchers . We need nine pitchers I would have five so I could get 3-4 solid hitters and still be able to fill out a good team. If I trade and drop Max it would give me two 1.00 closers and 24.00 to spend making it 183.00 Thoughts? Questions? Help ?

Trust Jansen to keep his job all year more, he is cheaper, and you keep A Jax who is leading off for the WS favorite. Deal #1

Jackson isn't going to lead off for Detroit. Kinslar is. Hunter batting second and Cabrera batting third. Its possible Jackson bats 6th but will not lead off.
So you would keep Jackson at 25.00 over who on my roster? As I said. If I do the trade for Janssen somebody has to go form the list of 8 I included. And if I keep Jackson as well that means one more from that list goes. Who are the two you would drop ?
I don't doubt Janssen keeps his job . Just not sure its worth the price to get him for one year.

If it were me, Kluber would go. At $2 he is a bargain, but he is nothing special right now and I doubt would go for more than 4 or 5 dollars in an auction.

In this league Kluber would go for 8-10 . Looking at some different projections I'm seeing some pretty good numbers. Rotochamps has him at 3.60 era 1.30 whip and 161 ks. If I do make the Janssen trade I'm half tempted to drop Max 25 and try to get him back at that . Even go a 1-2 higher if need be. Thoughts on that idea?

I am not understanding how a borderline\fantasy 5/6 guy like Kluber would go for 8-10 and a top SP like Scherzer only would go for $25? If people are paying $10 for Kluber they are liking going to pay $40 for Scherzer imo, esp. in a larger AL-only league.

That's the type of league this is. They will pay big prices for players. Its almost like they don't care what the rest of their team does as long as they get the players they want.
Jared Weaver went for 30.00
Fielder 45.00
Reyes 41.00
Felix 35.00
Verlander 35.00
Sale 27.00
Lester 30.00
Sabathia 30.00
Hamilton 35.00
Ellsbury 34.00

Almost anybody with a heartbeat gets drafted. 12 teams 23 players AL only.

Just example of what some of the big names went for last year
