Tanaka or Abreu or Ian Desmond?

Postby bodsquad » Fri Feb 21, 2014 7:31 pm

It is a dynasty league. I am taking over the last place team, so I get the 1st pick. The team of course is not in good shape.
I have Ike Davis at 1b so Abreu is the logical choice for me
Ian Desmond is available because the owner is letting him back into the draft. I have Hanley and Cozart.
Tanaka will be good, but SP have a considerable injury risk with the innings he has pitched. My SP is just avg, but I don't think Tanaka would bolster my line up with Wilson, Holland, Bailey, Medlen, Buchholz, Garza, Archer.
We do play an MI so Desmond is tempting as well.
Abreu still seems like the logical choice for me. I can lock up my 1b for the next 4-7 years or longer.

Thoughts?

This is tough. I think Desmond is the best player since he is a top 4 SS and you could have 2 of the best on your team. Do you think you can compete this year? If so I go Desmond. Ike can't be as bad as he has been can he? :-o If you are thinking to rebuild then go with Abreu who everyone says has a chance to hit 30 bombs.

please help

i think it doesnt matter if you compete this year or not. i personally dont think your team is good enough to compete this year. the question i have is what picks do you have after the first?

personally i would take desmond, out of the three at least because abreu is so unknown and you can pick up several hitters that are like him. if he carries a lower avg he would be like Dunn and Carter.

i would go with desmond for the reasons stated by the poster above, he is a top SS and a good start to building your team back to respectability. HOWEVER, with that being said....i wouldnt draft either of them. with the first pick i would draft Byron Buxton. if youre in last, you are taking over a team and have the first pick you have to build your team around SOMEONE. Buxton is the guy to do it. and since he was just added to the database he has got to be available for draft.

Since you already have Han Ram and Villar I would take Abreu (Buxton is a great idea also)
