6x6 roto, standard 5x5 + OPS and QS 7 keepers 180 Pitching Starts limit
I am trying something different out in this league. Of my 6 keepers, my best players are mostly pitchers. That being said, my current definite keepers are:
Tulo Darvish Sale Price Kimbrel Chapman
Clearly a lot of pitching, but I figure it is a different approach and will be interesting.
For my last keeper, I am trying to choose between Carlos Santana or Jon Lester. I realize I need hitting, but find the intrigue of simply stocking as much pitching as possible fun. Also, I am not in love with Santana.
I guess I have a few other 'possible' options. Please help me decide on my last keeper if you don't mind:
Carlos Santana Jon Lester Carlos Beltran Steve Chishek
I must be missing something...when exactly did John Lester enter the same draft or keeper territory as Carlos Santana? Lester is a mid to late teen round pick who posted about a 3.8 ERA and 1.3 WHIP last season (and that was a big improvement over his crummy year prior). He is also 30 years old. Santana is a round 7-9 round pick at a thin position. They are not even in the same league keeper-wise. There are probably at least 40 SPs I rather have than Lester now. No one should be keeping Lester in all but the very deepest of leagues.
Not to sound like a broken record but I agree with all above, keep Santana. Not a huge fan of keeping either, but Santana still has some upside potential at a thin position. Lester's best years are behind him. Good luck!
Why would you not keep Lester?? Very bad idea???? Did you watch the playoffs? Look at his splits, he had a rough start and then turned right back into the absolute stud ace he has always been. Carlos's bat plays great at catcher, but he is not going to catch, and at 3B he is average more or less. Gomes is here to stay and thus this is Lester no brainer. Wins, WHIP, Ks, innings, ERA, the guy has absolutely everything....
