Minors draft

Postby Irish Drunk » Wed Feb 19, 2014 1:35 pm

The final stage of our league is an up to 40 round minor league prospect draft. To qualify a player must be drafted by an MLB team and not had any MLB service time. So that would disqualify the likes of Bogaerts,Walker, Gausman etc.

I have the 4th pick overall who do you think I should target. Buxton will most likely be gone as will Taveras but after that who knows.

I'm leaning towards Bradley because he is the top pitching prospect in the minors and my pitching is weaker than my hitting. Is that a mistake to do over the likes of Bryant, Correa, Baez or Sano? There does seem to be a ton of top SS prospects. As an FYI I'm not overly big on Springer because of the high K rate. Thoughts are welcomed. Is there anyone I am overlooking perhaps?

I'd go with Baez. Bradley isn't likely to be a fantasy force pitching at Chase Field.

I'd go Baez as well, but to say the Bradley isn't going to be a force it just insane. The guy is very talented, and is one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball. Especially this year!

You have him ranked as your 5th best prospect in all of the minor leagues, and now you say he isn't an impact prospect. Looks pretty foolish to me.

All of that being said, I'd take a bat over Bradley if I could. Baez, and Correa for sure. I'm not high on Sano, but I can't fault you if you are. If I'm not in a hurry for a ML player I'd take Giolito. I have him ranked as the TOP MiLB arm available. He is farther away, but his upside is being the best pitcher in the majors.

I meant that I don't expect Bradley to be a fantasy force RIGHT AWAY. I can see two or three years of growing pains.

Correa imo, is the safest guy with a high ceiling.
But i like Baez and Sano a lot.

One of the golden rules of fantasy is... If a hitter and pitcher have equal perceived value, always go with the hitter.

I was ready to take Baez but he went at #3 so I did go with Bradley at #4. The only hitter I was thinking seriously about was Correa but he's at least 2-3 years away and I am not the most patient guy on the planet. In my other league I've been holding Sano for 2 years and now look what happens.

Keep holding. He wasn't going to make an impact this year anyway. He's had the surgery and very possible he's ready to play winter ball. I have him too and no way I'm letting him go. Even if it takes 2-3 more years.
