Jennings for Castellanos Roto WHIR?

Postby Philly_05 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 11:34 am

I put Desmond Jennings on the block in the attempt to pickup some infield help. The first offer I have received is Nick Castellanos for Desmond Jennings. Castellanos is a 21st round keeper in this years draft. While Jennings would cost me a 13th round selection. He offered Rendon as well but I favor Castellanos over him. He also owns Kipnis at 23rd round keeper and Rizzo at 18th round keeper slot that I would prefer to go after over Castellanos. Would you guys do Castellanos or shoot for Rizzo/Kipnis? He could be coming in low and I might be able to get Rizzo instead of Castellanos. But I doubt he budges on Kipnis. These are my keepers so far off another thread we did earlier this winter. I might try to fit in Neftali Feliz depending on how he looks going forward. We also talked about fitting in Chris Johnson in the 18th round.

I would hang onto Jennings if Castellanos is the only player he's willing to move. Would I go for Rizzo? ... absolutely. I think that's a fair trade and both have similar upside and you are severely lacking in the 1B options, meanwhile have a range of options at OF.

Kipnis just ain't going to happen, though.

I'll send him a message and see if he would do Rizzo. The reason I have no 1B is because Votto has to go back into the draft. 1st and 2nd round players all get sent back into the draft each season. Yonder Alonso was the only other 1B on my roster at the end of last year.

I would target Rizzo first, then Castellanos.

I agree with the above in that Kipnis isn't going to happen without you adding more players to the deal.

I wouldn't do it for Castellanos but hell yeah for Rizzo! Shoot for Rizzo and then if you can't get him for Jennings just keep him over Castellanos.

Thanks for your help with my other post and help with this one please?

Try Desmond Jennings, Shelby Miller and Jurickson Profar for Jason Kipnis and Anthony Rizzo. You can afford to trade a pitcher with all your arms.

Haven't got a response from the Rizzo owner yet. But a 2nd team threw his hat into the ring. His opening offer was only A Simmons. But he holds Machado, Bogaerts, Freeman and Segura all great values. Plus he was shopping Stanton last season.

Looks like I got something cooking on the Kipnis/Rizzo front. He is interested in moving forward on the Miller, Jennings and Profar package. Now we are trying to come together on draft picks to be included to help us keep these players. Might be able to get in on Stanton with another owner. He has interest in Latos so we will see what happens.

Okay this is a deal he's willing to accept. Want some final input before I follow through on accepting.

Trade
Desmond Jennings, Shelby Miller and Jurickson Profar 23rd round pick and 24th round pick

Get
Anthony Rizzo, Jason Kipnis 16th round pick and 28th round pick

Now the 16th round pick is important because I can now keep Puig in his original keeper position. Instead of having to move him up to the 14th round. Having two 16th round picks I can keep Carlos Santana in his original round. I would have to maneuver Salazar and Yellich around a little compared to the original keepers to fit in Kipnis. Would you keep Rizzo in the 14th or 15th round. Unless I make a move with Latos for Stanton. Then I can put Rizzo in the 15th round. These would be my new keepers after the deal..

Potential Keepers
SS- Hanley Ramirez - 3rd Round
RP- Kenley Jansen - 7th round
OF- Domonic Brown - 10th round
SP- Adam Wainwright - 11th round
1B- Anthony Rizzo - 14th round
SP- Matt Latos - 15th round
OF- Yasiel Puig - 16th round
C- Carlos Santana - 16th round
RP- Addison Reed - 17th round
SP- Danny Salazar - 18th round
OF- Christian Yelich - 19th round
2B- Jason Kipnis - 20th round
SP- Matt Moore - 21st round
OF- Mike Trout - 22nd round
RP- Trevor Rosenthal - 25th round
SP- Jose Fernandez - 26th round
