I like Votto. You know what you're getting and he's pretty reliable for his numbers.

Either way, both are top 5 1Bs.

Fielder moving to hitter friendly Rangers ball park and off the field issues with divorce now closed. Look for return to prior numbers. Won't hit 40 or 50 HR. But Good for .295, 35 HR, 90-100 RBI, 80-90 Runs and health has never been an issue.

I like Votto, but would pick Fielder over him at this point. Just my opinion. Good luck.

With Votto… last 3 years he has 29, 14, and 24 HR… with 103, 56, and 73 RBI. One of those years was an injury year… last year his RBI number was way down. With Fielder… last three years his HR numbers have been slipping 38, 30, 25… but his RBI numbers were solid and over 100 each time and he's played 162 games in each of those 3 years.

I feel that you know what you're getting with Fielder, more so than with Votto.

Votto walks way more than Fielder, more than any other player in the game really. His OBP is just off the charts.

Definitely true. If you're in an OBP league, he's golden. If you're not… then his AVG does not carry as much weight as another player's would… and basically, more walks means fewer HR and RBI chances.

Yes Votto walks a lot, but I still think the 73 RBI from last year (I think it was that many) was a total fluke. I like Votto this year, but Prince is intriguing in Texas.

Obviously both are top tier 1st basemen.

I would pick Votto ahead of Fielder because of average and OBP. The HR aren't as consistent for sure but his RBI totals from last year are an aberration and with Dusty Baker out as manager I expect Votto to have more chances to pound in runs.

That being said if you really need HRs then Fielder could pound 50 in Texas easy.

Nice dilemma to have!

Watched Fielder yesterday in Spring Training and he's definitely dropped a few lbs! Playing with a huge chip on his shoulder this year. This season without all the divorce anxiety he will mash in that lineup! Rangers are stacked
