Rex is my "Kenley Jansen'esque" pick for 2014. Shitty old 20 year major league career reliever in front of him in Latroy Hawkins vs. young blazing arm buck frothing at the mouth. Rex has great stuff; albeit left handed stuff, but pitched very well in 2013 -- and I could see LaTroy Hawkins turning into a donut shortly into the season, and Rex subsequently, running away with the job. Probability is like 65%, but I generally like to draft a few high upside 8th inning guys that can step in and dominate once the closer by name falters... Rex is on top of my 2014 list.

Probably could have gotten him later, but like him a lot this year... more of a note to myself. I was in a industry mock draft the other night (14 teamer) and he went in the 17th round. Just food for thought as he is nowhere near this ADP currently.

The COL closer situation is one that I don't really want a part of outside of a league that doesn't also count holds. Hawkins has been reliable and consistent despite the age. While Brothers' arm is intriguing, his walk rate is scary. I don't think that either guy is a slam dunk to hold the job.

Would rather roll dice on the upside... appreciate the commentary.

Sorry guys. Less concerned with the pick than holding up the draft.

I think I really like my team...everyone else still feeling good about theirs? Anyone just really not care for their team at all?

Other than my team batting average I'm very satisfied with my team. Too bad we can't revisit this site after the season is over, add 2014 season averages, and see how we compare.

Already have a C, but really like the Jason Castro pick. Think hes flying under the radar and makes for a great C to wait on in single C leagues... Could very well be a top 12 C this year.

Meh, I think Castro will be doing good to hit .260 and I'm not sure the power is legit. And then there is the whole thing of playing on that crappy team. But there is no risk and only upside when you take him this late in the draft after all the others are gone ahead of him.

Hitting in middle of lineup, 28 years old... I tend to disagree. Granted its the Astros, so counting stats should be tempered...

2014 Steamer Projections: 68/17/69/3 .250

That's very serviceable this late...

I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with...my projections

490AB
0.251avg
17HR
65RBI
60R
1SB

...that looks pretty close to Steamers projections and it's everything I said....250-.260 average... power output less than he did last year...and counting stats that are sub par. So yeah, meh, seems like a good word to use. And at the same time my last sentence above said it was still a fine pick this late...little risk this late and some upside...so yeah, it's a fine pick.
