What numbers do you expect from the reiging AL Rookie of the Year?

That is really hard to say. Remeber, he is guy who barely hit .200 in the minors in 2002, and he is a free swinger, the type of guy who is feast or famine and can easily get in a rut. He could be anywhere from a poor-man's Renteria (with maybe a little more power) to Nefi Perez. I guess what I am saying is that he has a great upside, but he has a downside risk too.

Also, you can expect at least 3 posts talking about how Matsui should really have won the award.

I'm not saying he deserved it, it is just funny to me how the Berroa ROY issue sets off all the Hideki lovers.

Matsui was a Veteran hitter in Japan, and that caused him to lose enough votes for Berroa to slip in and get the ROY. I think Berroa will mantain similiar numbers.
Webb did get screwed the most tho, he deserved that over Dontrelle.

Nah, Baldelli deserved it much more than Mastui. Matsui may technically be a rookie, but he had over 300 homers in Japan.. Rocco was making his professional debut at age 21.

ichiro also won the ROY and kaz matsui is the favorite to win this year. it doesnt make much of a difference they had the best stats.

whether they played professionally elsewhere is irrelevant in my opinion. They are still rookies in the most diffiuclt league in the planet. MLB is a step up from every other league on the planet so I would have had zero problem with matsui winning it -- other than the fact that it should have been webb in my opinion. I think anti yankee backlash had something to do with it.

Technically, minor leaguers play "professionally". should they be ineligible? If you are new to MLB, then you are a rookie.
