Robinson Cano for Bryce Harper in auction league keeper.

6x6 all normal categories but also OPS and Holds (and Quality Starts instead of Wins)
HEAD 2 HEAD. Keeper. $300 cap. Minors system
Players whose contracts are expiring can be resigned up to 5 years at 1.5x their salary

I have an owner who would trade me $13 Harper (signed for 2 more years...then resignable at $20 for 5 more years) for Robinson Cano (4 years at $23). If he were still a yankee i would definitely not consider it, but the move to Seattle has me thinking on it. The problem is it would leave a gaping hole at 2B for me. Brandon Phillips is the only name of anywhere close to similar value that will be on the market in the auction. I won the league last year....stand pat or tinker? :-o

I'm sticking w Cano at a great price in any Stadium on any team. I'd be dumping Sandoval at that price if possible btw

I would probably do the deal. But I can have a weakness for young guys. 7 years of Harper starting at age 21 or 4 years of Cano starting at age 31. Give me Harper here.

I'm for Harper as well. Just to lockup the prime years of a player like Harper. Would think your new OF depth could get you a 2B too

YOU HAVE TO GO WITH CANO, HE'S WORTH $240 Mil!!!!. just kidding :-D

On the serious side, If your team is ready to win now go with Cano. If you're rebuilding or a year or two away go with HArper. ;-D. Cano is probably at his plateau right now, he's either going to maintain or start his gradual decline over the next few years. Harper is still nowhere near his prime yet.

Just an update...I'm kind of torn. I just have this strange feeling Seattle will bring down Cano's counting stats to a level that isn't so elite any longer. I'm currently trying to acquire Aaron Hill who i think may have a very similar season to Cano.

I feel like if i can get Hill, who is the same age, in a better park and presumably lineup....it would soften the blow and i basically get 7 years of Harper, right through his prime.

Don't jump the gun too fast, Seattle's line up may still be a work-in-progress. If the line up around Cano is factor, you may want to wait and see how the winter meeting unfold.

I also want Harper. I do think that people are overstating how much Safeco is going to effect his HR totals. Lefty pull hitters can still do damage in his park. Right handed sluggers are a lost cause though. The good news for Cano is that he is not a huge power guy anyway. Maybe he hits 5 less or so. He'll hit more doubles, however, which helps in the OPS league.

Either way, I would still prefer Harper at the lesser cost and the more years.

I think I'd be real tempted to go younger/longer duration (if you think the league has staying power) in this case and take Harper.

Ironically enough I have offer to trade away Harper, interested in your thoughts: viewtopic.php?t=464562

I think that as a whole, I would prefer 7 years of Harper to 4 years of Cano, but at the same time, who are you replacing Cano with? Also, you're pretty deep at OF. To put Harper in, you're removing Domonic Brown. Can you line up a trade to help you at 2B first? I'd feel more comfortable with this deal if you do that.
