As a Mariners fan (Yeah, we actually still exist) I love stories like this:

If it's obvious it's probably true.

[*] (And as many have pointed out, Washington has no state income tax, which makes this deal worth approximately nine billion dollars.)

And as an A's fan I love stories like this too. How many monster contracts like this have actually benefitted the team that signed it?

Is it just me or does this drop Cano a couple of spots on your draft board?
I imagine the Mariners are still going to throw around some more money but the lineup and park seems to be a loss. Then again some games against the Astros might make up the difference. :-D

Nah, Seattle's offensive numbers were near identical to the Yankees last year and I don't see how Cano would have any less support that he did in NY in 2013.

I'd like to see how many 'Yankee Stadium' HRs he hit last year, and compare it to Seattle's park. I'd expect more like 22 HR than 28, but maybe I'm way off base.

Agreed I don't think going forward at 31 yrs old he was going to be much more than a 20-25 HR guy in any case but this is a guy that could hit 50+ doubles for quite a while in that Seattle park.

Ugh, was kinda hoping my Reds swooped in last minute.
