2013 AL MVP Trout or Cabrera?

Postby Izenhart » Sun Oct 27, 2013 10:44 pm

Now that Miguel Cabrera has deservingly won the Hank Aaron Award for being the best hitter, who do you think wins the MVP?

Anyone who watched the ALCS should have an idea of who to vote for. Sure Cabrera can get on base and hit, but WOW does he hurt you everywhere else. Fantasy MVP? Sure. Real MVP? Nope.

Other choices are Scherzer and Koji for being top of their classes. Who do you like?

Me: Trout

If Miggy is the best defensive 3B out there do the Tigers get any farther than they did? I don't think so. Faster on the basepaths? Maybe. I still say Miggy is the MVP. I know its preference, but I struggle giving the MVP to a guy on a team that doesn't even make the playoffs and finishes below .500 and 3rd in their division.

I think you could make just as good of a case for Cargo as you can Trout. You take Cargo off the Rockies they are much worse than the Angles without Trout. And Cargo is no MVP.

It's that whole argument of most valuable versus best - MVP would tilt towards Cabrera while the best leans towards Trout.
If it's obvious it's probably true.

Trout should win the MVP same as last year and same as last year I would bet my house Cabrera actually wins the MVP.

Cabrera was better across the board than last year, and had roughly 50 less AB's.

I rarely dip my toes into the MVP, CY Young, or HOF discussion because of my disdain for the voters, but its Cabrera.

Yeah, I'd bet my paycheck he wins it again. And like last year, I don't really have a problem with him (or Trout) winning it. Really amazing watching the guy hit.
