I was just thinking Cole's start today could carry a lot of weight determining where he is drafted next year. He was pretty impressive the last month of the season. If he shuts down the Cardinal's today I don't think he is going to come cheap next year. Alternatively if he gets blown up you might be able to get him a couple rounds later.

That could have been way worse. Defense hurt the Cards that inning.

Just a case of Matheny thinking too hard he should have gone with the conventional wisdom of going after the #8 hitter and leave Cole to lead off the next inning..

I would have but you can't really blame him for wanting to make the pitcher hit to beat you. Bigger problem was the fastball to Alvarez.

Cole is looking pretty good so far.

Yadi HR. Time to chase Cole from the game and try and get to the bullpen.

Marte and Alvarez should not see another fastball in the series. They both have crushed fastballs but looked like Pedro Cerrano vs. the offspeed pitches.

"Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come."
