Take a chance on Stanton? Trade Prado? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Sat Aug 17, 2013 1:59 pm

I'm looking to add some power to my lineup. I am currently in 3rd and will definitely be in the playoffs in 3 weeks. have stuck with Prado all year and have been benefitting from his very good play the last 6 weeks. Another owner is desperate for a 2B, and I have Infante and ARod to fill in at 2B and 3B. Giancarlo has been BRUTAL this year, but he could hit 20 HR the rest of the way...what to do?
I give: Prado + (SP likely)
I get: G Stanton. + (RP likely)

Does it help?

ESPN, h2h each cat, 12 team, 4 RP max, daily roster changes. Cats: standard 5x5 plus OPS, QS. Non-keeper. I stream 6+ SP (or starts) weekly.

C Jonathan Lucroy
1B Eric Hosmer
2B Martin Prado
3B Alex Rodriguez
SS Jose Reyes
OF Josh Willingham
OF Allen Craig
OF Michael Bourn
UTIL Adam Dunn
Bench Omar Infante
DL David Wright

SP Garrett Cole, Chris Archer, Jake Peavy, Brandon Beachy, Tony Cingrani
RP Rafael Soriano
RP Sergio Romo
RP Chris Perez

I'd say it depends on what SP you'd have to give and what RP you'd get back. That being said, in terms of ceiling it's a no brainer. I'd probably do it.

Just executed a trade of Prado & Cingrani for Stanton & F Rodney.
My h2h league is pretty top heavy...pretty much any of the top 6 team could win it all. Plus, in a h2h set up, a good or bad week can provide an upset in the playoffs. Therefore, my strategy is to be elite in 7-8 cats at the expense of the rest. Eg. I EXPECT to win : R, HR, RBI, SB, OPS, K, SV. Additionally I usually win QS, W just because of the volume of SP I can run out there via streaming. By adding these 2 guys, I feel like help my team with run production (hopefully the HR from Giancarlo is a sign of things to come) and ensure I win SV and K.
Thoughts & thanks.

I would take it on Stanton's potential alone. Prado has been playing over his head recently.
