Harvey + FOR Trout +

Postby BUCCOFAN » Wed Aug 14, 2013 2:25 pm

Deep 14 team Fantasy Point Head to Head Keeper League, which has a Dynasty type flair to it, as we keep 20 players yearly. We started this league several years ago, and were at a 10 team size, since then we have expanded to 12 teams in 2012, to 14 teams in 2013. Every year we have had expansion drafts too, so teams can build there rosters. In saying all of that, pretty much explains my SOLID roster.

Turns out Someone is offering Mke Trout (which I find shocking) in this type of a league. I am trying to acquire him, and have offered a substantial offer. He however is asking for Matt Harvey as well. This league is heavy favored in pitching STATS, A stud pitcher just cleans the house in Fantasy Points, (see below players fantasy points to date)

MY OFFER
I GET:
LF/CF - M.Trout 560FP
SP - M.Leake 381FP

HE GETS:
2B - R.Cano 492FP
CF/RF - S.Choo 312FP
SP - Z.Wheeler 149FP

HIS COUNTER OFFER:
I GET:
LF/CF - M.Trout 560FP
SP - S.Miller 514FP
SP - K.Lohse 372FP

HE GETS:
2B - R.Cano 492FP
CF/RF - S.Choo 312FP
SP - M.Harvey 773FP
SP - Z.Wheeler 149FP

Am I out of line, totally rejected his counter offer? I think I should be only moving one of "Cano" or "Harvey" as the centerpiece in a deal to get Trout. Correct?

MY ROSTER:
C - C.Santana
1B - A.Gonzalez

Yea, I would not make the trade he offered. Even though your getting Trout, Harvey and Cano is too much to give up in that deal.

Offer him Harvey and Choo for his Trout. No way do you trade Cano (you have no real replacement at first glance). If you have to maybe include Wheeler and you get Lohse to make the difference at least he'd get two good young starters and you get a back end starter on the cheap to lessen the blow.

I'd not let this slide by being too stubborn. Even getting a reasonable counter on an offer for Trout in a league like yours is uncommon. No way he should've traded Trout for what you offered yet he was couteous enough to put out a good faith counter. You are getting the #1 dynasty league keeper going here and it's much safer to assume a bat will continue to produce/improve than a young arm. Also, in the other owners defense, he did include Miller in his counter. He may well end up being the more dominant SP. No way to tell who will be the best between him and Harvey in the future. They are very similar in many ways AND Miller is almost 2 years younger. Hopefully you didn't burn bridges because with a keeper like Kipnis to fill in for Robbie AND the stacked young OF you'd own once you added Trout, dude I'd be inclined to do this. It's certainly the going rate for Trout, no one is dealing him for less.

Tough call, but I tend to agree with the prior poster regarding reconsidering this offer. Trout is the #1 dynasty player (both young and proven, which is rare). Cano is aging, and pitchers get hurt more often. While it's a steep price to pay for Trout, getting Shelby Miller makes it a reasonable deal. I'd strongly consider doing it.

Help me please. viewtopic.php?t=463791

He had Kipnis, I didn't even notice that...I did see Rendon..but concerned about him playing 3b in the near future...

If he has Kipnis DO IT go get Trout and Miller.
