Accept this blockbuster? WHIR

Postby CubsFan4Life23 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 1:29 pm

So I have about 9 players whom could be considered keepers for next season...With that in mind, I may be on the verge of acquiring McCutchen but at the possible cost of Stanton and Jones...I would also receive Butler or Gardner with Cutch...I think most will agree I am giving up the better end of the deal, but when it comes down to keeping 6 players, would I be keeping both Stanton and Jones?

Any feedback would be helpful!

10 teams Roto, 6 keepers, 5x5(OBP replaces AVG)

(* denotes potential keepers)

my team:
C - Posey*
1B - AGon
2B - Pedroia*
SS - Desmond
3B - Miguel Cabrera*
OF- Bruce*
OF - Stanton *
OF - A. Jones*
Util - Cuddyer
Util - Machado*
B - J Castro
B - Fowler
B - Villar

SP - Kershaw*, Sale, Wainwright*, A Sanchez, G. Gonzalez, Leake, Archer
CP - Balfour, R Soriano, Romo, Grilli

I would make that trade if I were you. The reason is this: I'd prefer Cutch over Stanton and A. Jones. JOnes' OBP is not very good (he never walks!), so in an OBP league, his value takes a minor hit. You should definitely improve your team for this season (stanton has struggled all year), and probably be neutral to better for next year.

With your current team, I'd keep:
Cabrera
A. Jones
Posey
Stanton
Kershaw
Pedroia (or maybe Machado--not sure)

With the trade, you'd keep:
Cabrera
McCutchen
Posey
Kershaw
Pedroia
Machado

I always value position players more than SPs since they're a lot easier to plug in. OF is also the easiest position to fill in-season or via draft (there are a lot more of them than any other position obviously), so giving up two OFs in the top 15 to get a top 5 player to me is a good move.

Are you in contention this season? If so, you almost have to stand pat rather than giving up 2 good players down the stretch.

If you're out of contention this season though, I think I'd make this deal. McCutchen is a stud, and if you're consolidating keepers he's definitely the type of guy to acquire. Can you get a mid-range draft pick back in this deal as well?

Hmm Butler isn't needed you have Cuddyer....
Your team looks very solid I believe I'd just make a run at the title with the team I had.
