Need Help Argueing against this....

Postby HtownStros13 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 1:21 pm

My current fantasy baseball league has 15 hitting categories and 15 pitching categories. So 30 total. It is a H2H league.... now people are wanting to add even more stats like hit by pitch. I want to eliminate stats because I think too many kinda dilutes things a bit. Anyone have a strong argument for why too many stats is bad?

I'm definitely a proponent of having fewer stats. With that many stats, it starts getting really complicated to determine the true value of a player. I don't know what stats are in there now and which ones are being proposed, but I'll guess it may throw things out of balance in weird ways. That also makes general fantasy advice out there a little less useful, which means even more legwork for you guys.

I would also be curious to ask what they're hoping to accomplish by adding more stats. Do they just like looking at lots of numbers, or are they trying to balance things out differently? If they're trying to change the balance, it would probably be easier to do by removing some of your existing stats.

Not sure how coherent that was, but hopefully that at least gives you some ideas for a starting point.

With 30 cats you'll truly have to be LUCKY to win in this league what difference does another 5 or 10 cats make. :-b

Well if its points based and its slowly weighted then I would be ok with it, but if its own category that would carry as much weight as OBP Wins k/9 HR etc then I would probably vote against that being adding into your keeper league scoring system.
