Keeper league: Braun/Miller for Fielder and Jose Fernandez

Postby Skimo77 » Mon Aug 12, 2013 6:18 pm

So I've been offered a rather intriguing deal in a standard Yahoo! 12 team 5x5 6 player keeper league. My team has been dominated by the injury bug this year, and am currently in 9th place, so I'm playing for next year. If I were to pick my 6 keepers for next year they would be :

OF Ryan Braun
OF Matt Kemp
SS Troy Tulowitzki
3B David Wright
OF Yasiel Puig
SP Matt Harvey

I've been offered a deal by another manager who is in last place which is, me giving up Ryan Braun and Shelby Miller and receiving Prince Fielder and Jose Fernandez. I'm on board with getting rid of Braun, though it is a huge gamble, and I like the return. My only issue is that it would leave me with 7 keepers and I'd have to get rid of either David Wright/Fielder/Jose Fernandez.

Is this trade worth it? The trade deadline is Sunday 8/18, so I'm working on a deal to flip Fielder and Fernandez for Goldschmidt, but I doubt he'll do it. What do you guys think?

PS I hope that made sense, THANKS! ;-D

I liek this set of keepers most its most balanced.
I would probably try to deal Wright and Fernandez off for a younger 3b or good young 2b keeper like KIpper and a good draft pick.

I would get Fielder/Fernandez and then drop Kemp.....sounds crazy but look at his stats over the last calendar year, especially compared to the guys on your list.

Here's mine:

I would deal Shelby Miller and the Juice Pig in a heartbeat for Fielder and J Fernandez. Even if you throw Fernandez back into the re-draft it's a good trade for you.

You're keeping two OF as it is with Kemp and Puig - - do you really need a third OF or are you better served with an elite 1B? Plus, how good will Braun be when he comes back without the juice?

BTW - - I'd look at packaging Kemp & Fernandez in a deal for an upgrade like CarGo or Cabrera. Anything you can do to capitalize on Kemp's name value while he's still go it.
