Thinking this may be a great opportunity to sell "high" on Kemp's name and potential to lock in the best SS prospects in the game. Is this too much?
I'm in a 6x6 dynasty league. We keep all players on rosters every year, no inflation or anything like that. We have 7 minor leaguers each which we have on a separate spreadsheet. Mine right now are: Joc Pederson, Robert Stephenson, Gregory Polanco, Julio Urias, Maikel Franco, Corey Seager, and David Dahl.
How many's in this league? You got a pretty nice team. Anywho, I've been trying to land Bogaerts in my keeper league to no avail. I think to get him, you may have to overpay and Kemp should be more than enough to overpay if you want Bogaerts that bad. I hate trading a sure thing (no matter how awful they've been) for someone who hasn't proven himself. Perhaps you can get him to throw in someone else that can help you out now?
It's a 12 teamer so not super shallow, but not a huge league either. Both players are risky haha, even with Kemp "healthy" half the year, he hasn't been doing much, so he's not the "sure" thing he once may have been. Still top 15 bat potential, but all the injuries are worrisome and Xander is a top 3 prospect. It's tempting
I would hold on to Kemp. Bogaerts is completely unproven, and while everyone is searching for the next Mike Trout, how many "can't miss" prospects have flamed out? Despite Kemp's issues, I think he's still solid, although if you look at my link below, you'll see I'm facing a not to different dilemma.
Agree, hold on to Kemp or package him for someone better. Even in a dynasty league, I would NEVER trade Kemp (potentially the best fantasy player in the game when healthy, and yes I know he never is), for someone unproven.
How many flops have you seen from highly touted prospects? Are you willing to wait for develpment for years? JD Drew, Kerry Wood, Delmon Young, Matt Weiters, Justin Morneau...just a few off the top of my head that people would have thought could be stars in MLB. Ok so you are maybe patient and can wait for develpment into a Chris Davis, Jay Bruce, Jose Bautista, Max Scherzer, Dominic Brown, or any other prospect you would hold onto in hopes of catching lightning in a bottle.
I however would suggest that you can get more for a proven commodity such as Kemp, and get back in return something with more certain value. This year I traded away Kemp and Kinsler FOR Kershaw and Utley. That's the value I'm suggesting he is worth to you.
Thanks for helping me out.

I tend to favour the live in the moment camp. Win this year (and maybe next) and worry about 3 years from now later. I don't think I'd trade a major leaguer with potential all star for a guy who hasn't played in the majors yet.
