Need to drop a pitcher...

Postby SecretAgentMan » Sat Jul 27, 2013 12:30 pm

5x5 Roto, 10 team keeper, weekly league, keep 6, 13/9 (2C) lineups, 2 bench and 2 DL slots. Under league rules you can pick up any player and stash in a DL slot for up to week until lineups need to be set on Monday at which time you have to make your lineup legal. Currently letting W. Chen stay on the DL since I have no advantage to activating him and picked up Melancon when Grilli went down.

Current staff:
SP: Kershaw, C. Lee, Weaver, S. Miller, Garza, Teheran
CL: Nathan, Rodney, Gregg
Bench: Cain, Fister
DL: W. Chen, Melancon

I can't keep Melancon in the DL slot past Monday morning. So either he gets cut or some other bench or active SP goes. I am tempted to let Cain walk given how lousy he has been this year and cutting Melancon seems foolish since Gregg could get dealt. Opinions.

I own Gregg in a roto league and honestly he is the guy I would drop. I don't think he keeps up his success much longer and he plays for the Cubs so I don't think the save opportunities are going to be as constant as they have been. I'm also never a fan of relievers who get dealt. They seem to implode in their new environment fairly often.

I think Cain will improve. Not exactly a bold statement because he has been atrocious. But I think his upside is much greater than Gregg's. Cain plays for a better team, in a pitcher's park, and has been cy young worthy before. His location is just terrible this year. But I believe he'll figure it out and his August and September will be good.

If you were to cut Cain though it would be an understandable move. That is a dilemna.

Help me if you can please

I think Gregg is the one to cut, especially with the possibility of him being traded.
