Lynn for Medlen, Keeper League

Postby Dorny » Thu Jul 25, 2013 8:08 pm

I would give up Lance Lynn and get back Medlen. Medlen is a round 28 keeper (30 round draft) for the next couple seasons. Lynn has no keeper value next year for the other team.

My pitching staff as it is right now is 12 team H2H 45 inning minimum per week:

Greinke
Lohse
Lynn
K.Kendrick
R. Soriano
G. Balfour
Janssen
Storen
D. Robertson
Perkins
Bumgarner
I. Kennedy
T. Wood
Archer
C. Lee

and I have Pineda stashed away for next year or whenever he gets called up.

We get 5 keepers each year probably have Archer, Lohse and Pineda for the last 3 rounds as keepers right now. Medlen would be the 4th that I could slot in the last rounds and then I have guys like David Robertson who would be round 23 for next year if he is the Yanks closer. Don't really have a lot of hitting keepers to speak of short of maybe Pedro Alverez as a round 11 keeper.

What does anyone think? If the Braves make a trade for a starter and he ends up in the pen or if Wood sticks and they move him there, does he ever get back out and become a starter again (with or not with the Braves)? I like the deal but if he has no value going forward this season and beyond I would rather just stay put. I could even stand it if he was in the pen for the rest of the year and got back to starting next year. I'm not that high on Lynn the rest of the way either.

Took over the last place team from last year and am completely new at the keeper thing so I figured I would look for some advice.
