Segura for Gomez? (& more) WHIR

Postby RasmusFlow » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:15 am

10 Team Mixed, H2H, 8 Keepers. 7x5 scoring (R,H,HR,RBI,SB,BB,AVG/W,Sv,K,ERA,WHIP) Currently in 2nd place, have been switching from 1st and 2nd all year. Was offered a trade from the 1st place team. I think this trade will help me this year, but I love Segura and he's one of the youngest guys on my team. There are no limits/rules around keepers so keepers can be kept forever.

I send: Jean Segura & Yovani Gallardo
I receive: Carlos Gomez, Ben Zobrist & Lance Lynn

My team:
C-Victor Martinez
1B-Billy Butler
2B-Robinson Cano
3B-Miguel Cabrera
SS-Troy Tulowitzki
OF-Chris Davis
OF-Nate McClouth
OF-Michael Bourn
Util-Mark Trumbo
Util-Jean Segura
Bn-Curtis Granderson (only have 1 DL spot)
SP-Matt Harvey
SP-CC Sabathia
RP-Ernesto Frieri
RP-Kevin Gregg
P-Jose Veras
P-Kenley Jansen
P-Homer Bailey
P-Francisco Liriano
Bn-Jered Weaver
Bn-Yovani Gallardo
Bn-Derek Holland
Bn-Jeff Locke
DL-Brandon Beachy

His Team:
C-Wieters
1B-Rizzo
2B-Seager
3B-Wright
SS-Zobrist
OF-Trout
OF-Soriano
OF-Myers
Util-Ethier
Util-Yelich
Bn-Gomez
Bn-Profar
SP-Lackey
SP-Burnett
RP-Reed
RP-Holland
P-Uehara
P-Hernandez
P-Bumgarner
P-Melancon
Bn-Zimmerman
Bn-Lynn
Bn-Wheeler
DL-Cueto

This guy is really high on Segura so any suggestions on counter offers would be appreciated, thanks!

I love this trade for you for this year. It will definitely help you win this season. Plus Gomez is coming into his own and should be solid for a couple more years.

Leaning towards accepting this trade, but is it really worth Segura? This kid is already a top 5 SS at 23. Any other opinions?

Yeah, the only question would be giving up Segura for the long term. I would definitely accept this trade in terms of this year. Good luck!

Thanks for mine. I'd personally pass on this. Zobrist is average, not sure why everyone fawns over him other than position flexibility/scarcity. Mediocre AVG (.260-ish), not running as much (8 SB), pretty good RBI for a SS but I think he's well past being a top-rated guy. Maybe just me.

OR, did you think about trying to trade Tulo instead and keeping Segura? Tulo might even fetch more in a trade based on track record, as great as Segura's been. And Tulo's no iron man -- now might be the time to cash in on his value while he's healthy & playing.

Absolutely agree, trade Tulo and if Yovanni is still getting love based off name value, move that stinker too. You could probably get a better SP with Gomez back

How about Tulo, Gallardo, McLouth and Butler for his Trout and Lynn?

Trout for Tulo end I like. McLouth (SBs), Gallardo and Butler (AVG should get back up) is a little steep for just Lynn, unless you have a couple waiver guys your'e eyeing. Anyone else even semi-usable he can throw in as a 3rd guy?
