Short term, or long term trade? Keeper league

Postby Watermock » Tue Jul 23, 2013 12:44 pm

So I need some advice. A buddy of mine in our league really wants my McCutchen, and he's willing to sell his farm for him. This is what he's currently offering.

I give - McCutchen, Crisp, Hardy, Eaton, Grilli and Shelby Miller

I Get - Gomez, Bruce, Castro, Corbin, Nathan, and MadBum

Looking at that deal, it looks like a no brainer. I'd have to accept that, right? But I'd be selling a really good long term keeper in McCtuchen. Cutch has recently really heated up, and is starting to show his pwoer again. I also can't play every guy he trades me...my team already is really good. I'm currently in 2nd place in this league.

My team looks like this -

C - Santana
1B - Davis
2B-Utley
3B-Encarnacion
SS- Tulo
OF - Cutch, Stanton, Cargo, Eaton, Craig, Crisp
Util - Hardy, Ortiz, R. Zimmerman
SP - Zimmeman, Harvey, Scherzer, Miller, Shields
RP-Grilli, Romo, Uehara

Would I still have 5 good keepers if I did this trade? We keep 5 guys.

It's definitely worth considering, especially since Grilli could be hurt and there is a decent chance Miller could be shut down when the fantasy playoff start. Nathan and Bumgarner would be huge upgrades there. Gomez might start to tail off. With all the Braun drama, kind of hard to expect too much out of that lineup. It's a fair deal to you, but Cutch is a special player. I stand pat.

Thanks for help with mine.

I think I would do that deal. Crisp and Eaton and possibly Grilli now I think are non factors in this deal and the worst player you would be getting is Castro who is having an awful year but still has a ton of potential.

Bump.

Any other opinions? I've still got this offer on the table.

i agree with germani, castro is probably the worst player your getting and he has potential to comeback big. crisp/eaton and grilli are nothing special. grilli might not even be back to help you this year. Bum and corbin are solid this season
