Alex Torres is having an outstanding year for the Rays and it seems to have come out of nowhere. I'm wondering if he has pitched himself into a more prominent role (closer? 4/5 starter?) in the future or is he doomed for a career as a 6th or 7th inning guy? I like what he has done so far but Tampa has so many young pitchers coming up the pipeline and I never hear much mention of his name as a possible contender for a starting spot. Likewise they have so many good arms in their bullpen that I doubt he will ever get a shot as the closer.

Torres has an outstanding changeup that could enable him to be more than just a lefty specialist. He's had some command issues in the past. If he's able to keep throwing strikes he could be a late inning option for the Rays. Rodney is a FA after the season.
