Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Detroit first baseman Dmitri Young suffered a broken leg in his team's 7-3 win over Toronto on Tuesday. He is expected to miss up to six weeks.
Young suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right fibula in the first inning. Running to second base, he dropped to the ground attempting to avoid a tag by Toronto second baseman Orlando Hudson.
After being helped from the field, Young had his leg placed in a removable splint.
Last season Young posted a career year, hitting .297 with 29 home runs and 85 RBI.
