WHIR! Will help anyone if they can help me. Trade FOR Tulo

Postby BalooDP » Tue Jul 09, 2013 12:41 am

Alright guys, help me out with this one. I have the choice of two trades here.

MY:

Phillips
Sandoval OR Elvis Andrus
James Shields

HIS:

Troy Tulowitzki
Homer Bailey

I have depth, would love to stack my offense, and my pitching staff can take the hit. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Here is my team:

C Wieters
1B Votto
2B Phillips
3B Beltre
SS Andrus
1B/3B Sandoval
2B/SS Kipnis
OF McCutchen
OF Stanton
OF Crisp
OF Markakis
OF Chris Davis
UTIL Werth
Bench David Freese

P Verlander
P Shields
P Kuroda
P Grienke
P Romo
P Grilli
P Leake
P Liriano
P Uehara
P Cole
P Skaggs
DL Beachy

Anyone have any thoughts at all on this possible trade? I like dealing Sandoval Phillips and Shields. I think I can take the hit.

Thanks for the help.

I'd have to say no on this one. Tulo just can't seem to stay healthy, and if you can't be sure f having him in your lineup consistently, then this deal costs you too much on the offensive side.

I agree with the above post. Although Tulo is a great player, he won't be helping on your DL.

You say you have the choice of two trades, what's the other trade?

Bailey for Shields is mostly a wash. Bailey will be better when he's at his best, but man he can have some clunkers so over time it's going to even out.

Given your roster situation, you'd be moving Kipnis to 2B and Tulowitizki would take up the MI spot. So it's an uncertain if he's healthy Tulowitzki for a competent Phillips.

I don't think I like the deal. The rest of your offense is so good I think it's worth taking the safe play in a healthy Phillips over the possible home run in a healthy Tulowitzki. I think this is a situation for the safer play is the correct one.

I wouldnt do this trade. You are overpaying for Tulo. I think Shields will have a better second half, he's just been unlucky in the W department. Panda should bounce back. He hasnt been right ever since he returned from his foot strain.
If you are looking for an offensive upgrade at MI I would look into acquiring Desmond. He's Tulo Lite but with speed

This is tough but i might do the deal where you giving up Phillips, Sandoval, & Shields. Tulo is elite at a weak position but is always an injury risk. I like Shields which is why this is tough. Bailey can have some clunkers, but maybe this is the year he takes the next step. The only stat Shields is better at is era- the other stats are pretty even- to my surprise.

Sandoval is more easily replaced than Andrus imo. You have Freese and Chris Davis you can plug in at the CI spot. If you put Davis at CI, you can put Werth in at OF or pick someone off the wire. Tulo is a risk but could be worth it. I'd take the gamble and do it.

Please help with mine.
