Trade offered to me, told him I'll respond by tonight WHIR

I was offered Justin Masterson and Torii Hunter for Cole Hamels...

I feel like I would be stupid to reject but at the same time I feel like Hamels is primed for a big second half. Help please!

This is a tough one, but I don't like the team Hamels plays on. Always better to have the bat too...Torii Hunter has been torrid this year, and Masterson has had some big performances, and he pitches on a team that can really mash the ball when they want to. Hamels hasn't gotten the wins, and hasn't looked super sharp out there, and that's not even in a good division.

I stay pat. Help? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=463189

I would prefer Hamels. Feel like you're buying high on the other side.

Hamels hasn't pitched elite, but he's also gotten unlucky. I feel like buying him low would be a good idea. However, Hunter looks like the steady R/RBI/BA hitter that helps solidify an offense and Masterson has upped his SwStr% enough that I think his increased K/9 may not regress that much. While I do see the potential for Hamels to perform like that elite guy again, I think the most likely case is that both pitchers give you mid-3's ERA from here out with Hamels giving you a bit better WHIP and them giving you simile k/9 (or maybe Masterson even giving you a bit better).

So while I wouldn't mind buying low and while I'd still rather have Hamels than Masterson due to the upside, I don't think the Hunter+Masterson is buying low enough. Unless Hunter is a complete bench player on your team right now (in which case it's probably okay to eat a bit of value since your getting the theoretically best player in the trade). Otherwise I might explore a slightly lesser hitter than Hunter or maybe see if the guy can toss in a lower-tier hitter or pitcher to make up the value difference.

Help w/ mine?
