Miller, Corbin, Iwakuma, Moore - Who to trade?

Postby KaiserBomb » Mon Jul 08, 2013 5:25 pm

I'm in a 12 team, head to head points league. It is a keeper league, but I will most likely not be playing with this same group next year - so that's a bit of a moot point.

My dilemma is that I have a stack of decent pitching with a couple more decent guys coming off the DL near the end of the month. So I'm soliciting advice on who should stay to get me through the end of the season and who could be traded for maximum value.

My current roster is:

C- Jonathon Lucroy
1B - Chris Davis
2B - Ian Kinsler
SS - JJ Hardy
3B - Hanley Ramirez
OF - Giancarlo Stanton
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Shin Soo Choo
UTIL - Matt Carpenter
BENCH - Ben Zobrist

RP - Jason Grilli
RP - Mark Melancon (Holds count in this league)
RP - Jonathon Papelbon
RP - Edward Mujica
SP - Matt Moore
SP - Patrick Corbin
SP - Shelby Miller
SP - Hisashi Iwakuma
SP - Stephen Strasburg
SP - Julio Teheran

DL - Brandon Beachy
DL - Alex Cobb

I know most of the younger guys, which there are admittedly a lot of, are going to probably be on pitch counts and see a shorter leash as the season wears on. For a couple weeks there, Moore looked like the easy answer of who to lose - but his value was low due to his rough patch. Now that he seems to have righted the ship a bit, however, I don't know if I should hold on to him or trade him before he goes off the rails again.

So does anyone have any thoughts on who to send off? I'm thinking Beachy will be back before Cobb and have a better chance of being great for me. The roster is full at 21 players, so we're probably looking at packaging a good, young pitcher with a decent position player for a more elite position player. Open to all suggestions, of course.

Well I would think Moore and Miller have the best value in a keeper league with Iwakuma right behind. So that is what I would start with.

I think Miller and Iwakuma will get you best value right now, but that Moore and Miller are the best keeper values. You should be offering one of them. I would start with Moore.

I am thinking about trading away an expensive Miggy to get a cheap CarGo in a keeper league. Can you help with advice on this one?
