huge potential trade

Postby mikeydub12 » Sun Jul 07, 2013 4:07 am

i've just been offered 2 different trades from 2 different people. i honestly dont know what to do

the first one i would receive
Ryan Braun
Carl Crawford
Tim Lincecum
Josh Johnson

I give up
Andrew McCutchen
Chris Sale

The second one i would receive
Wil Myers
Adam Lind
Jarrod Parker

I give up
Adrian Gonzalez
Chris Sale

in my league we have 2 keepers and can keep a rookie. Cutch is one of my keepers right now (my other one is Kemp) and i currently have no rookies on my team. I would love to have Braun, but hate the thought of giving up both Sale and Cutch. i dont know. am i stupid for considering either one of these trades or am i stupid for not instantly hitting accept on one of them

The first deal is a laugher. Only if Braun were healthy and not targeted by MLB would I do it, but it's a lot of junk to get Braun instead of McCutch, and you don't need to do it.

The second deal: Lind replaces A-Gone for this year. Parker is 75% of Sale, and neither are keepers for you. Wil Myers might not be quite the uber stud he's been made out to be (Eno Sarris from Fangraphs called him Nick Swisher: I think it was Eno), but there's a great, quality rookie for you to keep, and certainly, there's a lot of trade value to him. You could easily spin him into another rookie you like better (certainly, you'd get any of the SP for him), or you can credibly keep him for next year, of course.

I take Deal 2.

I dont think i would do either trade but if i had to pick 1 trade i would pick the first trade. I would take the shot on Braun, hoping he will come back and be a top 3 player like we all know he his. The 2nd trade offer is complete garbage as your giving up the 2 best players in the trade and arent even getting close to value.

I agree with Tuttle. The first offer is a joke. Johnson has won 1 game to date, and if the Jays don,t start to win soon they may get rid of Johnson (contract expires this yr). If the Giants get a SP in a trade Lincecum is heading to the bullpen. If I were to pick either one I would go with #2. Cueto out 4-6 weeks and has hit the shelf 3xs with the same injury.

With Cueto in instead of Parker, I'm out. Matt's right about Cueto.

The other month, I hurt my lat playing basketball (January?). I missed a simple throw from 2B to 1B in my softball game the other night; my arm is sore to all hell, and at its most aggravated, I can't even tell you where it's going, even in short distances.

In the end, Cueto's awesome and will get healthy. But he's never going to be a keeper for you.
