Crawford due back tomorrow, how does LA handle this....

Postby Metropolitans » Fri Jul 05, 2013 12:45 am

title says it all... theres literally no way Mattingley can bench Yasiel, im assuming Ethiers gotta be the odd man out. Kemps starting to swing a hot bat and Crawford was having a big bounceback year before the injuries. Puig and Hanley r practically single-handedly changing this teams entire season, NO WAY they can mess with that... whatya think Donnie Baseballs gonna do???

Sources:

Crawford likely to be activated Friday Carl Crawford (hamstring) will join the Dodgers in San Francisco Friday for the start of their series against the Giants.
Though the Dodgers haven't officially confirmed that he'll be activated from the disabled list, there's no reason to believe he won't be. Crawford batted .385/.429/.462 with a stolen base during four rehab games while showing no ill effects with his left hamstring. He'll return to a .301/.358/.470 batting line with five homers and nine steals. Source: Dylan Hernandez on Twitter Jul 4 - 6:31 PM

I'm thinking they might ship Ethier off for a pitcher.

Ethier to the bench until they can trade him.

I think they are going to have to eat a lot of his contract to move him.

They have only 10 games before the break I think you'll see Crawford get eased back in the rotation and Ethier getting a few starts there, after the break 'till the end of July they have another 12 games with 5 vs. the AL so you'll see all 4 in the lineup for those with the other 7 games at bats up in the air unless they move Ethier before that. With all of the injuries they've had to Kemp/Crawford I don't imagine they're too worried about having an extra bat hanging around remember what everyone said about having 8 starting pitchers going into the season.....how did that work out.

Only 3 of those 5 are at AL parks and those are the last interleague away games the Dodgers have this year. It wouldn't shock me to see them hold on to Ethier but I wouldn't count on much playing time unless someone gets hurt again.

Playing time or not I'd rather see them keep him for the rest of the season and pay him to sit than trade him for nothing and pay him to go away. The way the season is going one of these 2 things are sure to happen:
1. Trade him for nothing and someone is sure to get hurt !+)
2. Keep him on the bench and all will stay healthy ;-D
and it will cost them the same in either case.

They're not going to be able to trade him unless they play him. I hope they keep him for the bench just so Joc Pederson can get moved to an organization that will play the 20-30 potential guy rather than a bunch of overpaid former stars.

If you think he's going to be all that maybe they can move him to the Mets for Harvey. ;-D

Kemp is out of the game from straining his shoulder swinging.

I never blatantly wish injuries on players (unless its the playoffs vs the Mets) but Kemp may have solved this equation for us!

swung and immediately grabbed his surgically repaired shoulder after, Carl Crawford replaced him....

as a NON-Kemp Owner and as a 4 of 4 Puig/Crawford owner, this is perfect! :-o
