Lopez will get moved. Doubt Pence and Lincecum are though.

Yeah, wasn't really considering Lopez; obviously he's not getting a QO.

If the Lee-to-Red Sox package was Bogaerts, Ranaudo and a mid-level guy like a Brandon Workman type, how much would the Phillies have to pay of the remaining salary on Lee's contract, which is $25 million in 2014, $25 million in 2015 and $27.5 million in 2016 with a $12.5 million buyout, to get the Red Sox to say yes? $20 million? $30 million?

As Jon Heyman noted yesterday, the Phillies aren’t just looking to move Lee’s contract. They want serious talent in return too.

“He’s telling people it’ll take you three or four best prospects, plus you’d have to take all the money,” one competing executive said of Phillies GM Ruben Amaro.

Most Red Sox fans don't think dealing Bogaerts for Lee is a good idea and from the value he seems to carry to the organization, I don't think it will happen. Supposedly, Amaro wants Middlebrooks, so something else could be done.

Good luck with that, Ruben. Might as well try to dump Ryan Howard’s contract on the team that takes Lee while we’re pipe dreaming. They’ll be lucky to get anything better than a fringe prospect in return unless they’re gonna eat some of Lee’s salary.

Cliff Lee's trade value should be based on how well a team thinks he will age. It's easy to say that he's expensive so a team like the Red Sox shouldn't give up a top prospect but guys like Lee simply don't come up in FA very often. There definitely isn't anyone close to Lee next offseason. For a team like the Sox money isn't really an issue so I don't think giving up a top prospect to get him is a big deal. Should that top prospect be Bogaerts or can they get it done for a lesser guy like Barnes or Webster?

Money is always an issue. The Phillies got the three best and cheapest seasons from Lee in 2011-2013. There is just very little, if any, surplus value remaining. Lee's next three seasons have a higher AAV than the deals Verlander/Felix/Greinke signed within the past 12 months. And he's a lot older than those three. In reality I'm sure the Phillies would be ecstatic to get anything of value for him, but obviously their first attempt is going to be to shoot for the moon (Bogaerts).

Peavy to the Red Sox seems close to completion. Jose Iglesias is one of the players who is thought to be going back to the White Sox.
