Quick one: is Cespedes for Lester fair? WHIR ALWAYS!

Postby Millhouse » Wed Jul 03, 2013 2:12 pm

12-team 6x6 mixed keeper.

Other guy needs an OF (BJ Upton has been killllllling him all year).

I'm fairly deep in OF (Bautista, Choo, Cuddyer, McLouth, Cespedes, R.Davis) and have a good pitching staff (Darvish, Verlander, Price, Latos) but could use a 5th arm (Pineda on DL; but I'm eyeing Erasmo Ramirez & STL Carlos Martinez down the road a bit).

So....is Cespedes a fair offer for Lester? Or do you guys worry about Lester enough to not even deal Cespedes for him?

Leave a link, WHIR ASAP ;-D

I think Cespedes has better long term value. As a Lester owner, I was hoping for a revival, but he has been slipping of late. Do you think this deal will help you win the league? If so go for it, if not I say hold on to Cespedes, he can be a stud in the future.

I generally think Cespedes carries more value than Lester. But since it fills a need, and Cespedes hasn't exactly been lighting it up, I guess it's not bad. What other SP's does he have? I'd look a little bit higher, like a Mike Minor or a Anibal Sanchez type. Lester has been quite shaky over the past month or so.

Thanks for the help with mine.

In terms of long term value, I dislike this.

I would aim higher.

Even if this weren't a keeper league, I'd be hesitant to make the trade. Lester's rate stats have been trending downward for the last couple of years, so I wouldn't hold out hope on a second half turnaround. If said owner has a better starter he would consider moving, I'd try for that. Otherwise, I think Cespedes carries enough value that another owner would be willing to part with a superior starting pitcher for him. His long-term keeper potential should also be factored into any deal, hence why I believe you should be able to land a much better pitcher than Lester.

There is no way I give Cespedes for Lester. Cespedes's avg is down but he is still producing. Lester has been pretty useless for a couple of years now and is not doing well currently so why would you want him and why would you trade a 30 hr guy for him? Target another SP imo.

Lester is nowhere near as valuable as Cespedes in any format.

Keep Cespedes easily, or aim higher on SP

What other SP's does he have?

I don't think it's a good deal for you. Cespedes carries a lot more upside and value, especially in a keeper.
