J Up for Goldy

Postby Johnny Tuttle » Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:00 am

In my 12 team mixed league dynasty, I can make the following deal:

My: Chris Carter and Justin Upton

for

His: Paul Goldschmidt and Zoilo Almonte

2 questions:

1) Is Almonte a zero? Do I just drop him post deal? (i.e., for Berkman)

2) I really, desparately need a 1B, and I have a plethora of OF. Good deal?

C: Santana
1B: Carter
2B: Kipnis
SS: Hanley
3B: Miggy
LF: Holiday
CF: Harper
RF: Heyward
UTIL: Bruce
UTIL: J Upton
Bench: Lowrie and Jason Castro
DL: Bourjos and Granderson

SP: Colon, Liriano, Wainwright, Gallardo, Strasborg, Medlen, Moore, Zimmermann, and Sale
RP: Wilhemsen, Medina, Putz, Wood, Downs (holds league), Brothers, and Veras
DL: Cobb

I think you should take this deal and keep Almonte for now. Almonte has shown a lot of pontential and I see no reason to drop him for Berkman for the time being. I would hold on to him and see how he performs until Granderson comes back. As for the other side of the deal I LOVE Goldshmidt. I have him in one of my keeper leagues and hes not going anywhere for a long time. I would pull the trigger on this, for sure.

Great deal for you. You're getting the best player in the deal and getting a much needed upgrade from Carter to Goldy. IMO Goldy has A LOT more value than JUp in a dynasty so you're winning this trade by a good margin. I think Almonte is droppable for players like Berkman.

Definitely do the trade and probably drop Gallardo for a LF platoon partner just in case with Holiday's injury risk. Carter was your b/u LF. Almonte is swinging a hot bat but he's negligee for long term.

I'm definitely taking Goldschmidt there. I'd hold Almonte for a bit to see what happens with him. More potential upside.

Help with this really simple question here?

Good deal for you. Goldy is amazing, Upton can be but is inconsistent (to put it nicely). I'd take a wait and see approach with Almonte; ride his hot hand and pick up someone else when he cools off.

This is a great deal for a yearly league and a keeper league. Gooldy is having an MVP caliber season. Upton has forgotten how to hit since May 1st.
