My Tulowitzki for his Fielder? WHIR 100%

Postby RasmusFlow » Tue Jun 25, 2013 9:00 am

League is 10 Team H2H, 8 Keepers. I've been offered Prince Fielder for my Troy Tulowitzki. IMO I don't think this is a great return, but with Tulo being so injury prone it's hard to get his real value. Having been a Tulo owner for the past 2 years, I wouldn't be surprised if his injury got delayed a million times until it's finally announced that he's out for the season.
Anyways, what do you think about this trade? Please make any suggestions on possible additions to this trade that would make it better for me.

My Team:
C-Victor Martinez
1B-Billy Butler
2B-Robinson Cano
3B-Miguel Cabrera
SS-Jean Segura
OF-Chris Davis
OF-Nate McClouth
OF-Michael Bourn
Util-Mark Trumbo
Util-Brett Gardner
Bn-Mike Zunino
Bn-Troy Tulowitzki

SP-Matt Harvey
SP-CC Sabathia
RP-Ernesto Frieri
RP-Kevin Gregg
P-Jose Veras
P-Yovani Gallardo
P-Homer Bailey
P-Josh Johnson
Bn-Jered Weaver
Bn-Derek Holland
Bn-Jeff Locke (stream spot)
DL-Brandon Beachy

His team:
C-Jason Castro
1B-Freddie Freeman
2B-Martin Prado
3B-Josh Donaldson
SS-Jhonny Peralta
OF-Yasiel Puig
OF-Carlos Gonzales
OF-Andrew McCutchen
Util-Desmond Jennings
Util-Prince Fielder
Bn-Jason Heyward
Bn-Eric Hosmer
Bn- Brett Lawrie
DL-Evan Gattis

SP-Jose Fernandez
SP-Chris Sale
RP-Joaquin Benoit
RP-David Hernandez
P-Francisco Rodriguez

I understand your frustrations...I own both in my keeper/dynasty and I am high on both of them. That being said, I would not take this trade. You get similar numbers between the two, but what makes Tulo so valuable is you get 1st baseman numbers at your SS position. Tulo at short for 75 games is more valuable than most SS for 200.

I'd keep Tulo. And he is ahead of schedule to return from this one.

I would do it. You have Segura at short. Prince is one of the more consistent guys you can find. Tulo is seemingly hurt every year where Prince rarely misses games. Ya Tulo is the best SS in the game when healthy the key there is when healthy.

Do this for sure. It's looking like Segura is going to have a Tulo caliber year and you're in desperate need of a 1b. This is almost the perfect trade for you right now.

Plus, I'm a big believer in being safe and conservative in fantasy baseball. Tulo is going to be on and off the DL the whole year while I'd bet my life savings that Prince will play 162 games as always.

You also have Billy Butler. I would say your sitting ok at first. Prince does traditionally play 162 games, but Billy should be in line for a big second half.

Yearly league, I would do this....but not in a keeper.

Maybe try packaging Segura for one of his 4 jock OF's. Add in Yovani maybe... Puig would be an exciting acquisition for you if he would let him go.

You need a 1b, you have Segura, his emergence has made Tulo expendable. I love Tulo, but this makes your lineup much much stronger nad gives you a packagable trade chip in Butler. Gallardo + Butler + Vmart is a perfect package to acquire one more good OF. Zunino would be my catcher here on out. Since you are giving up veterans maybe consider going after a solid veteran OF like Adam Jones or Carlos Beltran.

I know what you mean about Tulo being so valuable, but you have SS covered and this is a 2-UT league, so there will always be a spot for Prince and his big bat. I'd make the trade and stop worrying about the injury report.

Help with mine?

Given Tulo's constant health concerns I'd make the deal.
