this 2013 season in the minors Gibson has a higher K/9 than Cole does.

Gibson could have some great numbers, or he could get lit up like some rookie pitchers do. but I don't think it's fair to just write him off like he has little chance to be successful.

Perhaps you need to read the Gerrit Cole thread. The board is equally critical of him.

Kyle Gibson was knocked around for eight runs over 5 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Yankees.
Making his second major league start, Gibson gave up 11 hits and one walk while fanning a pair. He was charged with the final two runs after being replaced by Brian Duensing in the top of the sixth inning. Struggles are to be expected with rookie pitchers, but we still think he'll have value in mixed leagues until he runs into his innings limit. He'll get the Rays next week on the road.

glad I dropped him after his first start. :-°
