Meh.

He "might" become a #3 type of guy, but this isn't some 20-21yr old flame thrower or anything....he'll be 26 in October and in his career at AA and AAA he almost has a hit per inning and under a K per inning in his career. He's also sporting a .69 (H+BB/K), which doesn't exciting anyone for a minor leaguer ;-7

he was drafted in the 1st round in 2009 out of University.
he also had Tommy John surgery in 2011.

this from mlbtraderumors
Gibson, the 22nd overall selection in the 2009 draft, was ranked as the 41st-best prospect in the game by ESPN's Keith Law (Insider subscription required), 45th by MLB.com, and 68th by Baseball America. Gibson underwent Tommy John surgery in 2011 and didn't pitch again until the fall of 2012; but, Law writes "he is back to 92-94 with his four-seamer, and he works down in the zone to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible. His best pitch is a hard slider that he uses to wipe out right-handed hitters but also used in changeup counts against lefties." Baseball America lauds Gibson's changeup as a plus pitch with sink while MLB.com says Gibson's slider "gives him a third above-average offering." The 25-year-old has been solid in Triple-A this year posting a 3.01 ERA, 7.7 K/9, 2.7 BB/9, and 55% groundball rate in 92 2/3 innings covering 15 starts.

He'll mean more to the Twins than your fantasy team.

what specifically is there not to like?
nobody wants a good ERA/WHIP anymore?

his age I don't think means much. if anything it's a plus because he's closer to his prime age than a younger pitcher.
obviously he wasn't going to make it the majors in his early 20's when he was only drafted out of University at 21.

the realistic comp is trevor Cahill fantasy wise. the upside comp is Johnny Cueto fantasy wise.

So yeah there isn't much reason to rush out to get him. There's also the issue that he's on an innings limit this year. there was a 130IP limit floated around earlier but I could see him pitching through August on a 90 pitch count.

good news for Twins fans though.

He gets KC at home first, which isn't bad. Then the Twins' schedule gets tough.

Just curious, why do you think he will help your ERA/WHIP?
Across 4 years and over 200 innings at AAA his ratios were crap.
Near 4 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Theres a reason it has taken him so long to reach the majors.
This guys seems fantasy irrelevant.

you're right. he was drafted in 2009, and then had TJ surgery in 2011. then on his way back he only had 13.2 IP last season. he is finally back to where he should have been before the injury.
he was one of the top prospects before the injury including the Twins #1 prospect.
he has just as much of a chance to succeed as any other top prospect coming up this season.
