Is Adam Lind on the Chris Davis path?

Postby lastingsgriller » Sat Jun 22, 2013 9:20 am

First of all, don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that Adam Lind is going to hit 27 hr in 3 months or anything like that.

But, what I see here is two left handed power hitters that were quite productive in their early years. Then their careers were slowed to the point of demotion by a combination of injuries and the league finding holes in their swings and them being unable to adjust (especially when facing left handed pitching). Now it seems that both have become much more patient and are raking as their early success always suggested they could.

Again, I'm not suggesting that Lind will become otherworldly as Davis has, but I this point it appears that Lind may be able to mirror Davis' 2nd half last year. Discuss...

I dont know the answer but I sure hope he gets on that Chris Davis. He would certainly help me get in the money in the league I have him in.

I'm also still a little salty I traded away CD in early May for Matt Cain...

Lind doesn't have nearly as much power as Davis. He's a good contact hitter but like I said in another thread I think he's a .270, 25 HR type of guy. And I think once Reyes and Lawrie are back he'll be in a platoon with DeRosa/Bonifacio playing against LHP. I hope I'm wrong because I'd love to have a circa 2009 version of Lind. But just as with Vernon Wells, I've seen way too much of the terrible version over the past 3 seasons to assume that this hot streak will keep going.

He's probably not going to go back to a platoon role, according to Gibbons, he's earned the everyday 1B job.

We will probably see Lawrie at 3B, Reyes at SS and Bonifacio/Izturis at 2b, with EE at DH.

look to his 2009 season. Might fall a tad short on some things, but that's what he's capable of.

After reading this from a source I trust, I got concerned that 2009 could, in fact, have been a career year for him. It's a good read albeit dated still a good read.

Hopefully he's on the right track again.
